APRIL 29, 2023 is Green Up day in Old Saybrook CT!
Born of my disdain for the roadside garbage I saw and collected on my daily running excursions and 11 years of participation in a similar event in northern New England, I brought the idea of a town wide Green Up project to Sustainable Saybrook. It was there, amidst like-minded, community volunteers, committed to sustainability that this idea came to fruition.
Details:
On Saturday April 29, 2023 citizens of Old Saybrook can come together at one of the staging areas and head out together or simply take a walk in their immediate neighborhood, picking up and collecting roadside littler. Participants can pick up free garbage bags at one of the staging areas or provide their own. All collected and bagged garbage may be returned to one of the staging areas around town. Bags can be left on the roadside, but in an effort to make pick-up more efficient we are asking that bags be returned to the staging areas whenever possible. The bags will then be picked up by the Public works department.
